Now Available: Readomator 1.0.2
Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 12:36AM Readomator 1.0.2 is now available in the Mac App Store. Version 1.0.2 focuses on speed and stability, and adds an oft-requested feature supporting multilingual users.
The occasional beach balls seen when loading and reloading content from Instapaper's servers should be a thing of the past. Also fixed should be any choppy scrolling seen on older Macs.
If Readomator is still crashing or slowing on your Mac after updating to 1.0.2, please report it.
Multilingual support
1.0.2 also adds support for users who save pages to Instapaper in two or more different languages. OS X 10.7 Lion provides access to many different high quality voices in many different languages. Readomator now looks at the voices you have installed on your system, identifies the best language for each article it converts, and uses an appropriate voice.
As long as you have a voice installed that matches the language of the article, this feature should work automatically. Explore the "Voice and Language" popup menu in Readomator's preferences for more settings.
Readomator builds the list of languages to consider based on the voices you've installed on your Mac. The fewer languages you have installed and enabled, the more accurate it will be. With only two languages installed, the accuracy should be well over 99.9%. You can disable auto-detection of individual installed languages in Readomator's preferences, in the Voice and Language popup.
The language-detection algorithm used in Readomator can and will be fine tuned in future updates. Please report any misidentified articles using my contact form, and I'll adjust the algorithm as nessecary.
